DON’T STIR UP ANGER:
This verse tells the truth that is common to many arguments and disputes. Things will only get worse if your answer to an angry remark is harsh and offensive words. It’s like pouring gasoline on a burning object. This verse proves a simple and yet very challenging solution to facing someone with burning anger. It tells us to answer softly because a soft answer can turn away wrath. It means that it can extinguish the burning flame of anger. We can say that this is very challenging because facing someone with a burning anger can be contagious. There is a huge tendency that the one facing an angry person can lose their patience and will also burst into anger. When you keep your cool, stay in control of yourself and practice answering softly, those soft words can overcome the power of uncontrolled rage.
PRAYER:
GOD, thank You for teaching me what to do the next time I face an angry person. Help me not to be overwhelmed by the anger of others, but to control myself and choose soft and gentle words instead.
